“Tyler cranks up the heat in the action-packed paranormal romance. Intricately choreographed action sequences lend the novel the feel of a cinematic thriller. A sizzling thrill ride!” – Publishers Weekly
Grade: 3
Our heroine Jes opens the book with her team all dying. A new team is put together and brought to her case, enter Jake. Jes is a human, Jake is a werewolf. Jes has lost enough people in her life not to want to form attachments. Jake’s werewolf is ready to go all in with Jes.
In the first third of this book, the author spent a good amount of time telling us Jake is a werewolf. Over and over again. Along with his “keen” hearing… But, once you get past the first third, she stops over-explaining and gets in to the story.
The team is new and haven’t had time to establish trust and open communication. Which could have been the authors opportunity to rely on lies by omissions and misunderstandings for conflict. She didn’t, which was quite refreshing. When it was time for Jake and Jes’ relationship to move forward, they just talked to their teammates and got it out in the open. I was so pleasantly surprised.
Bottomline: the book was decent. The world was complete. The action moved. The characters were thought out. If you enjoy Paranormal Romantic Suspense, this is right up your alley.
