“FUNNY, DEEP, AND ROMANTIC AS HELL.” — LIBRARY JOURNAL STARRED REVIEW
Grade: 5
The second book in the Brown Sisters trilogy follows Dani Brown’s journey into love. Zafir and Dani have sparked a friendship over morning coffee and protein bars. Dani believes relationships are not for her, but Zafir is an all-in kind of guy. While their friendship borders on flirtation, there are no plans for it to go any further until an internet video of them goes viral. Now they are faking a relationship for the world, while trying to hide feelings from each other.
Talia Hibbert was on my TBR list with her first book Get A Life, Chloe Brown, but when some fanart for Take A Hint came out, instantly I knew I needed to read this book. And I am so glad! It’s now in the running for my favorite book of 2020 and Hibbert is definitely on my auto-buy list.
Zafir and Dani were perfect characters. Not as in too perfect to be true, but written so completely real and raw that I couldn’t help but fall in love with them. Dani’s past relationships have left her believing no one will accept all of her. She’s not willing to compromise any parts of herself, so she believes her life will be a single one. Zafir’s grief over the loss of his father and brother has left him battling serious depression. The way that Dani and Zafir supported each other through their growth was beautiful.
On top of well-written character growth, Hibbert writes witty dialogue that literally had me laughing out loud. Along with making me send snippets to my friends in my enjoyment of reading this book.
Bottom line: Read this book. Read all Talia Hibbert’s books. You won’t be sorry.
